Cataract Falls Covered Bridge

Cataract Falls Covered Bridge is a wooden structure crossing Mill Creek in Jennings Township within a state recreation area. It features red painted exterior walls and was built using traditional wooden construction methods.

Built in 1876 by the Smith Bridge Company from Toledo, Ohio, this bridge replaced an earlier structure that had been destroyed by flooding. It has served as a pedestrian passage and stands as a witness to 19th-century bridge building in the region.

The bridge represents the engineering methods of 19th-century American bridge builders who developed wooden truss systems for crossing waterways.

The bridge is now open only to pedestrians and sits within a state recreation area where visitors can access additional walking paths and natural surroundings. The approach is straightforward and accessible to most people.
