Putnamville Presbyterian Church, Greek Revival church in Putnam County, Indiana, US

Putnamville Presbyterian Church is a brick building with Greek Revival features located along IN 243 in Putnam County. The structure displays symmetrical design with a central entrance and a vestibule that was added in 1953.

The building was constructed in 1834 and originally served the Presbyterian community. In 1861, its use changed when a Methodist congregation took over the structure and began holding their services there.

The congregation gathers in a symmetrically designed space that reflects Presbyterian traditions and invites visitors into a long history of shared worship and community gathering.

The building sits conveniently on a main road where visitors can easily stop and explore the classical architecture from both outside and inside. The location is straightforward to reach and offers adequate parking for those interested in viewing this historic structure.

The noted preacher Henry Ward Beecher, an influential religious leader of the 19th century, led the dedication ceremony of the building. This connection to an important figure in church history makes the site memorable for those who study religious institutions.
