First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church is a Protestant house of worship in West Baden Springs built from timber with a straightforward wooden design. The building holds space for religious gatherings, includes multiple rooms for Sunday school, and features a basement level for community events.

Construction started in 1898 when congregation members donated timber to build the church on land given by Larkin Lancaster. The church was dedicated in September 1899 and became a center for worship in the community.

The church holds regular religious services and maintains active community programs through its Christian Fellowship Center, established in 2006.

The church sits along Hotel Road and is easy to spot when visiting the area. Check ahead about service times or events to find out when visitors can enter the building.

Workers rotated the entire church building 90 degrees between 1939 and 1942 to reface it toward Hotel Road. This unusual feat of engineering was done to align the structure with the area's changing development.
