Hobb Lake, body of water
Hobb Lake is a medium-sized reservoir in Winslow Township, Camden County, New Jersey, also known as Bates Sawmill Pond. The water body is fed by a small stream and surrounded by flat, wooded terrain with grassy areas suitable for walking and picnicking.
The reservoir was created by damming a small stream and has long served local water management for the surrounding region. In the early decades of the twentieth century, the lake was a popular swimming destination for families before recreational use shifted mainly to fishing and leisure activities.
The lake serves as a gathering place for local families and residents who seek outdoor relaxation and leisure time. Its quiet, neighborhood character provides a simple retreat where people fish, walk, or enjoy the water's calm presence.
The lake offers basic amenities such as parking areas and nearby green spaces for picnics, but no restaurants or shops within immediate reach. Visitors should bring their own food and water along with appropriate clothing for the weather conditions.
The water body was historically known as Lake of the Four Fountains and is connected to local springs and streams that shaped its significance. Additionally, two summer camps, Great Times Day Camp and Camp Haluwasa, are situated directly on the shore and use the water for recreational activities.
