Hindu Temple Society of North America, Hindu temple in Flushing, Queens, United States.
The Hindu Temple Society of North America is a house of worship in Flushing, a neighborhood in the borough of Queens. The building displays a traditional granite gateway tower and several shrines dedicated to deities such as Ganesha, Balaji, and Mahalakshmi.
The community founded this site in 1970 and finished construction seven years later. The grounds previously held a Russian Orthodox church.
The name Ganesha Patasala refers to a teaching center where children learn classical Indian dance forms and devotional songs. These classes take place regularly within the grounds and link spiritual practice with artistic expression.
Visitors can enter the building from Tuesday to Friday starting at 3:30 PM and on weekends from 3 PM onward. The site remains closed on Mondays and Wednesdays.
The canteen opened in the early nineties and serves vegetarian South Indian cuisine. On festival days the number of visitors can triple compared to regular weekdays.
