Arlington Heights Historic District is a residential neighborhood containing about 737 buildings spread across 177 acres between Arlington Boulevard, South Fillmore Street, and South Walter Reed Drive. The area maintains its original street grid and residential character from its early planning.
The neighborhood was created through 25 separate subdivisions developed between 1909 and 1978, expanding alongside the growth of commuter transportation to Washington DC. This extended period of development shaped it into a settled residential community.
