Lincoln Homestead and Cemetery, Federal-style homestead in Linville, Rockingham County, US.
Lincoln Homestead is a two-story brick house with five bays, a side-gable roof, and detailed wooden cornices featuring Wall-of-Troy molding and dentils. The property includes a cemetery with graves spanning multiple generations of the Lincoln family buried on the grounds.
Jacob Lincoln, a great-uncle of President Abraham Lincoln, built this residence around 1800. The family held the property until 1874, when it passed to other ownership.
The family cemetery on the grounds contains graves of five Lincoln generations, including Virginia John Lincoln, the great-grandfather of President Abraham Lincoln.
The cemetery is open to visitors through the north entrance along old Route 42. The main house is a private residence and can only be visited by arranged appointment.
The property underwent extensive restoration from 2019 to 2021 and incorporated digital elements including 3D models showing how it appeared during the Lincoln era. These modern tools help visitors imagine the original condition of the house.
