Alma Downtown Historic District, Historic district in Alma, Michigan, US.

The Alma Downtown Historic District extends along Superior Street between Pine River and Prospect Avenue, containing 72 commercial structures built between 1874 and 1960.

The district's development began in the 1850s when General Ralph Ely purchased land and built a mill, establishing a settlement initially called Elyton.

The buildings display architectural styles including Commercial brick, Italianate, Queen Anne, Neoclassical Revival, Art Moderne, International Style, and Richardsonian Romanesque designs.

Most structures feature first-floor commercial spaces directly accessible from the sidewalk, with buildings ranging from one to three stories in height.

The Wright Opera House Block, planned as a small store, evolved into a three-story structure with five commercial spaces and an entertainment venue.
