Centennial Park

Centennial Park is a large urban park in Champaign with numerous sports facilities across its grounds. It features multiple courts and fields for tennis, baseball, soccer, and basketball where visitors can play and exercise.

The park came into existence in 1959 when the city acquired the land through a strategic arrangement with the school district. This established a new community recreation space in the area.

The Prairie Farm section within the park displays a traditional farmhouse with barns and farm animals that help visitors understand rural life. You can walk through this area and see how people once lived and worked on the land.

The park is accessible to visitors throughout the day and offers parking nearby for those arriving by car. You can visit the grounds at different times and find various activities suited to your interests.

Buried beneath the park sits a time capsule called Bottles For A Century that was sealed in 1977 and will not be opened until 2077. This hidden message from the past awaits discovery by future generations.
