The stadium opened on November 3, 1923, constructed at a cost of 1.7 million dollars through donations from students, alumni, and university supporters.
The stadium honors University of Illinois students who died in World War I, with their names engraved on the columns surrounding the stadium facade.
Located at 1402 South First Street in Champaign, the stadium includes a high-definition video display measuring 36 feet tall by 96 feet wide.
The football playing surface, named Zuppke Field, contains the Grange Rock at its north end commemorating the achievements of player Red Grange.
