Greensboro Training Center

The Greensboro Training Center is a military training facility in North Carolina that occupies a large area with multiple training grounds and specialized facilities for emergency response education. It offers practical training in tactical operations, emergency medical education, and specialized courses in hazardous materials response.

The facility was established in 1941 and initially served as a headquarters for technical air corps training. It became a major center for preparing airmen for deployment during the Second World War.

The facility trained both Women's Army Corps members and African American airmen during World War II, reflecting the evolving military demographics of the era.

The grounds are divided into separate training areas, so plan to walk around and explore the various facilities. Comfortable shoes and plenty of water are recommended, especially during warmer months when much of the experience takes place outdoors.

During the war, the center prepared tens of thousands of airmen for deployment across the globe, making it a crucial hub in the military effort. This large-scale training mission had a reach far beyond the region itself.
