Thompson Park

Thompson Park is a large green space situated on a hilltop with views overlooking Watertown. The grounds include tennis courts, an 18-hole golf course, walking trails, playgrounds, and picnic areas for various activities.

Philanthropist John C. Thompson donated this land to Watertown in 1916. John Charles Olmsted, a relative of Central Park's designer, later shaped the grounds' development.

The park serves as a gathering place for community events and celebrations throughout the year. A monument honors local soldiers and stands as a focal point within the grounds.

The park is open from 7 AM to 9 PM daily, providing easy access to all facilities and amenities. Finding your way is straightforward since the grounds are well-marked, making it simple to locate specific activities and areas you wish to visit.

Within the park sits Zoo New York, where visitors encounter native animals including Roosevelt Elk, Black Bears, Mountain Lions, and Golden Eagles. This wildlife component sets the park apart as a dual-purpose destination for both recreation and nature viewing.
