Lamont Gallery

Lamont Gallery is an exhibition center within Phillips Exeter Academy that displays contemporary art installations and student works across multiple display spaces. The rooms use natural lighting and are designed to present various forms of art effectively.

The center opened in 1953 as a memorial to Thomas William Lamont II, a student from the class of 1942 who died during World War II. Its founding was a tribute to a lost alumnus and shows how important the place became to the school community.

The gallery displays works that reflect the school's approach to art, including Diego Rivera's painting 'Irene Estrella'. The collection mixes contemporary pieces with historical objects donated over the years, creating a blend of student and institutional perspectives.

The space is located on the Phillips Exeter Academy campus and is open to visitors during regular hours. You should check ahead since it closes between exhibitions to prepare new shows.

The building has three exposed skylights that bring natural light into the exhibition spaces, giving each show a special quality. This architectural feature creates a unique setting for displaying art.
