John Dickinson Plantation, Historical plantation museum in Kent County, United States.

John Dickinson Plantation is a Georgian mansion with outbuildings and farm areas that show how agriculture worked in the 1700s. The site includes a visitor center with exhibits explaining what daily life was like for people who lived and worked there.

John Dickinson wrote influential letters from this plantation in the 1770s defending colonial rights, earning him recognition as a major voice in the Revolution. His writings shaped discussions about independence across the colonies.

The site demonstrates colonial life through hands-on exhibits where visitors watch craftspeople and farmers using traditional techniques from the 1700s. These working demonstrations show how people actually spent their days during this period.

Tours operate Thursday through Saturday with departures from the visitor center, where you can pick up maps and information. Wear comfortable shoes since exploring the grounds involves walking across outdoor paths and fields.

The property features three distinct walking trails lined with colonial-era flowers that guide visitors through different sections of the agricultural landscape. These paths show how work areas and living spaces were arranged across the estate.
