Sydney Zoo

Sydney Zoo is a zoological park in Eastern Creek, a western suburb of Sydney in New South Wales. The grounds divide into several continental zones, including African savannah, Asian jungle, and native Australian bushland.

The park opened in December 2019, making it one of the newest major zoological facilities in Australia. The design followed current principles of animal care and species protection from the start.

The name comes from Sydney, though the site sits well west of the city center. Families often spend entire afternoons here, watching feedings or joining animal encounters.

The grounds open daily in the morning and close late afternoon, with online reservations usually cheaper. The facility is fully wheelchair accessible and card payment is preferred.

The reptile and nocturnal house is considered the largest of its kind worldwide and hosts hundreds of species in naturalistic habitats. Visitors can observe night-active animals in bright daylight here, as the light cycles are reversed.
