The Bush Beast, Wooden roller coaster at Wonderland Sydney, Australia
The Bush Beast was a wooden roller coaster at Wonderland Sydney that stretched over 970 meters of track with two trains carrying seven cars each. The structure followed a double out and back pattern, reaching speeds of about 90 kilometers per hour (56 miles per hour) at a maximum height of about 27 meters (89 feet).
The coaster opened in 1985 as part of the expanding amusement park scene in New South Wales. Operations continued until 2004, when the entire theme park closed permanently.
The Bush Beast was part of Wonderland Sydney, a place where visitors came together to experience excitement and adventure in the 1980s. The wooden coaster reflected how Australian theme parks became popular destinations for families seeking thrills and outdoor entertainment.
Guests should prepare for a ride that combined multiple loops and drops, with safety features including head rests and seat dividers at each position. Since the coaster dated from the 1980s, checking operating conditions beforehand was helpful for planning visits.
The ride featured an unusual double track layout where both trains followed separate paths through similar turns and drops. This design was distinctive for wooden coasters and meant riders experienced different sensations depending on which train they rode.
