Shilaidaha Rabindra Kuthibadi

The Shilaidaha Rabindra Kuthibadi is a three-story brick building with 18 rooms situated along the Padma River. It has been converted into a museum that displays the spaces where the renowned writer once lived and worked.

The Tagore family acquired the estate in the 19th century and Rabindranath later managed it during his most productive years. The place became significant because he created much of his literary work there.

The place displays personal items that Rabindranath Tagore used during his time here, including his bed and clothing. Visitors can see how the writer lived and worked in the early 20th century.

The museum is maintained by the Department of Archaeology and is open to visitors throughout the year. It is best to visit in the morning to see the rooms in good light and enjoy a quieter atmosphere.

The writer composed the English translation of his work Gitanjali at this location, which later brought him fame. This translation became a turning point in his life and drew the attention of the literary world.
