Jameh Mosque of Marand

The Jameh Mosque of Marand is a place of worship built with a chambered room and three entrances, where the walls and interior surfaces are decorated with intricate stucco work. The room layout follows a traditional design that gives visitors different paths to enter.

The building was founded in the early medieval period and later underwent a major expansion that was financed by revenue from special taxes. This construction phase brought most of the decorations and structures seen today.

The mihrab displays detailed Kufic inscriptions and Quranic verses that show the skill of the craftspeople who created them. These decorations shape the interior today and speak to the artistry of the builders.

The building is located behind Marand's municipal offices and can be reached via Imam Street. It remains accessible for religious services and can also be visited to study its architecture.

The stucco decorations in the altar area display exceptional refinement that ranks among the finest examples of medieval Islamic craftsmanship. These delicate details are clearly visible to visitors who take time to observe them.
