Organs of St. Stephen's Cathedral

Five separate organs with 17,774 pipes and 233 registers form the complete organ system inside the white-towered cathedral with blue-green domes.

The current organ configuration emerged after a devastating fire in 1662 destroyed the original instrument, leading to multiple installations over subsequent centuries.

Regular organ concerts between May and October showcase the instruments' capabilities through performances that demonstrate different combinations of the five organ sections.

Visitors can experience guided tours of the cathedral organ system, which includes 120 kilometers of connecting cables and pipes ranging from 6 millimeters to 11 meters.

A central console in the western loft enables organists to control all five organs simultaneously, storing over 4,000 different musical settings for performances.
