Hemmoor, Urban municipality in Cuxhaven district, Germany.

Hemmoor is an urban municipality in Cuxhaven district, Lower Saxony, stretching across roughly 45 square kilometers of flat terrain near the Oste River. The town hall serves as the administrative center for the broader Samtgemeinde and surrounding region.

The area belonged to the Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen in 1180, then came under Swedish administration as part of the Duchy of Bremen in 1648. These shifting influences shaped the region's development over many centuries.

The town maintains an active partnership with Swaffham in eastern England, with community exchanges and shared programs that shape local life. This connection is visible through various local initiatives and gatherings between residents of both places.

The town hall provides access to municipal services and serves as the main point of contact for administrative matters. Visitors can find information about local facilities and services throughout the area.

A cement factory here operated from 1866 to 1983, producing concrete materials that were used in constructing the Statue of Liberty. This remarkable legacy connects the town to one of America's most famous monuments.
