Hemmoor

Hemmoor is an urban municipality in Cuxhaven district, Lower Saxony, stretching across roughly 45 square kilometers of flat terrain near the Oste River. The town hall serves as the administrative center for the broader Samtgemeinde and surrounding region.

The area belonged to the Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen in 1180, then came under Swedish administration as part of the Duchy of Bremen in 1648. These shifting influences shaped the region's development over many centuries.
