U-Boot-Bunker Hornisse

The U-Boot-Bunker Hornisse is a fortified structure in Bremen designed as a production facility for submarine components. The massive concrete building dominates the harbor area today and displays the traces of this industrial past.

Construction began in March 1944 as a naval manufacturing site for assembling submarine components. After the war, the facility was partially redeveloped with an office building constructed on the original foundation.

The site serves as a reminder of those who suffered during its construction under brutal conditions. Visitors encounter this difficult chapter of history directly when walking through the remaining structures.

The bunker is located in Bremen's harbor area and is easily visible from outside. It is best to visit during daylight hours to see the structures and surroundings clearly.

The site originally contained an unfinished dock about 360 meters long, conceived under different naval plans. This ambitious project reveals how wartime plans shifted and what traces remain visible today.
