Himmerich, Mountain summit in Bad Honnef, Germany
Himmerich is a hill summit in Bad Honnef, part of the Siebengebirge range and of the Rhenish Massif's volcanic ridge, reaching around 367 meters (1,200 feet). Its slopes are forested and rocky outcrops appear at several points along the terrain.
The hill was shaped by volcanic activity that transformed this part of the landscape millions of years ago, giving it the rocky character visible today. The area later became part of Naturpark Siebengebirge, the oldest nature park in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The Himmerich draws walkers from nearby towns who use the trails regularly for day trips and weekend outings. The summit sits at a crossing point of several routes, connecting the area to a broader network that people explore on foot.
Several marked trails lead to the top from different directions, and the route from the southeast tends to be the least steep. Signs along the paths are clear throughout, making it easy to find the way without a detailed map.
On clear days, the top offers a view across the Rhine valley that takes in several other Siebengebirge peaks at once. This makes it a natural resting point on longer walks through the area, where people often stop to take in the landscape before moving on.
