Die Wühlmäuse, Cabaret theater in Westend, Berlin, Germany.
Die Wühlmäuse is a theater in Berlin's Westend neighborhood, housed in a former British forces cinema at Theodor-Heuss-Platz with 516 seats. The hall features a traditional theater stage with an auditorium designed for smaller productions, allowing direct connection between audience and performers.
Dieter Hallervorden founded the ensemble in 1960 together with other actors, initially in the Scala cinema building. In 2000, the stage moved to the former British military cinema, where it has been based ever since.
This venue serves as a stage for political satire and social commentary through comedy, with ensemble members often playing multiple roles in a single show. Guests experience a mix of cabaret, comedy and musical theater that turns current events into entertaining performances.
The entrance is accessible for wheelchair users, making it easy for visitors with mobility needs to attend. Tickets can be booked online, and regular attendees may choose a subscription option.
The venue's name comes from a mouse that sat on a piano during early rehearsals and watched the founders at work. The animal became the namesake and symbol of the ensemble, which has identified with this unusual origin ever since.
