Erlebniswelt steinzeichen steinbergen, Outdoor amusement park in Rinteln, Germany
Erlebniswelt steinzeichen steinbergen is an outdoor recreation area on Messingberg spanning 15 hectares within a reclaimed limestone quarry in Lower Saxony. Walking trails wind through the site, with multiple viewing platforms positioned to show the landscape from different vantage points.
This site was created for World Expo 2000 and operated as a popular destination in its early years. Financial challenges beginning in 2016 forced the park to close and left parts of it vulnerable to vandalism.
The Garden of Nations brought together trees and plants from different countries during World Expo 2000. Visitors can still see how these botanical collections reflect a vision of global connection.
The site is walkable with routes suited to half-day visits and varying fitness levels. Platforms throughout the grounds are accessible from ground level, though higher viewpoints require more climbing effort.
A narrow climb of 156 steps leads to the Jahrtausendblick platform, offering sweeping views over the Weserbergland region and surrounding countryside. This signature vantage point was part of the park's original appeal and remains one of its defining features.
