Hotel Maximilian's is a historic building on Maximilianstraße in Augsburg, featuring a richly decorated Rococo facade. The house contains hotel rooms, a restaurant, and event spaces, combining historic architecture with a functioning hotel.
The building was erected in 1722 in Baroque style and originally served as a private residence. After heavy damage in 1944, it was restored and later put back into use as a hotel.
The building stands on Maximilianstraße, one of the finest Baroque streets north of the Alps, used today as a promenade and shopping street. Walking along it, you see richly decorated facades from different periods that still define the look of the street.
The hotel sits on Maximilianstraße, in the center of the old town, making it easy to reach other sights on foot. The facade is best appreciated from the opposite sidewalk, where you can take in the full front of the building.
Before the building became a hotel, a private citizen named Andreas Wahl gradually turned it into a guesthouse. This slow shift from family home to inn shows how urban life and economic needs changed across generations in the city.
