Freilichtbühne Greven-Reckenfeld

The Freilichtbühne Greven-Reckenfeld is a forest theater with 720 seats, half of which are sheltered under a roof structure for weather protection. The venue sits among trees and creates a natural setting for theatrical performances.

The theater association was founded in 1947 and initially performed indoors before establishing its current forest location in 1962. The move into nature marked a turning point for the organization.

More than 200 amateur performers bring musicals, comedies, fairy tales, and children's theater to the stage each season. The productions show how this theater brings together local artists and offers different genres for diverse audiences.

On rainy days, the covered sections provide shelter, but it is wise to dress warmly and bring a blanket. The theater remains active through winter by touring nearby cities with indoor shows, extending its season year-round.

The grounds were purchased by the association in 1995 and completely renovated for its 50th anniversary celebration. This renovation allowed the theater to meet modern standards while keeping its original character.
