The Emsdettener Venn spans 341.7 hectares of wetland habitat, featuring moorland areas and diverse bird populations in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The initial designation of this protected area occurred in 1941, with subsequent reinforcement of its conservation status in 2012.
The Vennfüchse volunteer group maintains the open character of the moor through regular maintenance and educational activities.
Visitors can explore the nature trail with informational brochures while parking facilities are available at Neuenkirchener Strasse 150z.
The reserve hosts numerous endangered bird species, including the Northern Harrier, Great Grey Shrike, and Short-eared Owl during winter months.
