Konzerthalle im Steinfurter Bagno
Konzerthalle im Steinfurter Bagno, Concert hall in Steinfurt, Germany
The Konzerthalle im Steinfurter Bagno is a rectangular concert venue with a hipped roof that Count Karl Paul Ernst von Bentheim-Steinfurt had built in 1774. The space seats around 250 people and features twelve windows that open onto the surrounding park.
Count Karl Paul Ernst von Bentheim-Steinfurt built this structure in 1774 as one of Europe's oldest independent concert halls. This established a place that has preserved 18th-century musical culture to the present day.
The hall displays decorative elements from the Louis XVI period, with mirrored walls and fine stucco work still visible today. These details shape the impression when entering the space and evoke baroque elegance.
The building sits within a park that is freely accessible and invites exploration during your visit. The windows allow views to the outdoors, which creates a pleasant experience especially on good-weather days.
The hall preserves the tradition of court chapel music that Count Karl maintained with around 35 musicians and singers in the late 18th century. This connection between court music and public concert venue remains part of its story today.
