Haus Lesmona, Classical villa in Burglesum, Germany
Haus Lesmona is a classical villa in Burglesum that stands on an elevated position above the Lesum riverbank. The building displays symmetrical architecture with classical elements and is situated within Knoops Park.
The villa was founded in 1814 under the name Heinrichsburg by merchants and received extensive renovation in 1862. The reconstruction work significantly changed the appearance of the original building.
The villa was closely connected to writer Magdalene Melchers, whose personal letters were written from here. Her correspondence later shaped a notable work in German literary history.
The property is easily accessible via Am Kapellenberg street and combines residential space with an art gallery for visitors. The park location makes it possible to combine visiting the building with a walk through the surrounding green area.
Beneath the property grounds stands a bronze memorial sculpture dedicated to Magdalene Melchers, installed only in 2001. This late tribute shows the lasting significance of the writer to the region.
