Robert-Bosch-Haus, Historical villa in Gänsheide district, Stuttgart, Germany
Robert-Bosch-Haus is a three-story residence with sandstone walls in Stuttgart's Gänsheide district, featuring a belvedere tower and a double flight staircase that leads to a four-column portico. The building contains 25 rooms and currently serves as the headquarters of the Robert Bosch Foundation.
Construction of this residence took place between 1910 and 1911 under architects Jakob Früh and Carl Heim, serving as Robert Bosch's home until 1942. Following his departure, the building later functioned as a French consulate.
The building displays a blend of Italian Renaissance elements and 19th-century Schinkel school influences that visitors can observe in its architectural details. These stylistic choices shaped the appearance and character that remains visible today.
The building sits within a peaceful residential area surrounded by an English landscape garden with a pond and mature trees. Visitors should plan to explore the grounds first before entering the interior of the house.
Robert Bosch specifically chose this property in 1909 because of the existing English landscape garden with its mature trees. This verdant setting has remained one of the defining features of the place throughout the decades.
