Plieningen, Administrative district in Stuttgart, Germany

Plieningen is a district in southeast Stuttgart featuring residential neighborhoods interspersed with green spaces and parks. The area sits at roughly 370 meters elevation and is shaped by various housing areas and recreational grounds.

The district was first documented in 1139 and suffered heavy destruction during the Thirty Years' War. It was officially incorporated into Stuttgart in 1942 and subsequently developed into a modern residential neighborhood.

The neighborhood is closely tied to Hohenheim University, whose buildings and grounds shape its appearance and character. This presence has made it a hub for learning and social exchange where students and visitors move through regularly.

The area is well connected by public transportation that quickly reaches Stuttgart's center while supporting local services. Visitors will find shops, schools, and medical facilities within the district that cover everyday needs.

In the Asemwald section stand three residential tower blocks built between 1971 and 1972 that stand out for their distinctive architecture. These structures exemplify the housing construction programs of the 1970s in the region.
