Riemer Park, Large recreational park in Messestadt Riem, Germany
The 210-hectare landscape park features an artificial lake spanning 10 hectares and contains over 20,000 trees across its expansive grounds.
The park was constructed between 1997 and 2005 on the former Munich-Riem Airport site, requiring an investment of 70.5 million euros.
French landscape architect Gilles Vexlard designed the park with strong geometric patterns, earning the German Landscape Architecture Award in 2005.
Visitors can access multiple sports facilities, playgrounds, and two observation hills that transform into sledding slopes during winter months.
The Riemer Park hosts the Munich Bestzeitmarathon every last Sunday of October, starting precisely at midnight under starlit conditions.
