St. Mary`s church

The three-aisled hall church stretches 56 meters in length and 26 meters in width, featuring dual towers and three polythagonal chapels on the eastern side.

The initial fieldstone structure, built between 1235 and 1250, was replaced by the current brick building constructed from 1289 to 1340 during the Hohenstaufen Dynasty.

The church contains a late Gothic high altar from 1512 that depicts local history through detailed scenes and survived World War II by being concealed behind walls.

The building serves as the main Protestant parish church of Prenzlau, coordinating activities with multiple daughter churches in the surrounding district.

The eastern façade displays sophisticated architectural elements modeled after Cologne Cathedral, incorporating buttresses that end in decorative pinnacles and intricate tracery.
