Sophienstraße 7

Sophienstraße 7 is a three-story palace built with yellow brick and sandstone in a Gothic style. The building features a detailed facade and was substantially renovated in the 1950s with new internal structures added.

The palace was built between 1862 and 1864 for Count Adolf von Grote, a prominent merchant of his time. The building changed hands over the decades and took on new purposes in the modern era.

The building shows how wealthy families lived in the 1800s, with its fancy brick and stone exterior displaying their social standing. You can see how important a grand home was for people of that era who wanted to show their position in society.
