Saint John the Baptist Parish Church, Wessobrunn

Saint John the Baptist Parish Church in Wessobrunn is a parish building with a simple hall-like floor plan and three altars inside. White walls are adorned with elaborate Rococo stucco decorations that draw the eye upward throughout the interior.

Architect Joseph Schmuzer designed the building between 1757 and 1759 but died before its completion. Thassilo Zöpf took over the project and added the fine stucco work that defines the interior spaces.

The name honors John the Baptist, whose life story unfolds in elaborate ceiling frescoes throughout the interior. These religious images shape how visitors experience the space and reflect the saint's importance to this community.
