Grünheide

Grünheide is a rural municipality in the Oder-Spree District of Brandenburg, located southeast of Berlin across a gently rolling landscape. The area features forests, lakes, and farmland that create a predominantly natural environment.

The area was completely depopulated during the Thirty Years War, but settlement resumed in 1662 with the construction of a sawmill. This facility marked the beginning of economic activity and renewed habitation in the region.

The municipality contains several districts including Alt Buchhorst, Bergluch, and Gottesbrück, each contributing to local traditions and community activities.

Fangschleuse train station provides direct connections to Berlin and other cities, serving as the main transportation hub for the municipality. Buses and cycling routes make it easy to explore the flat landscape and reach different areas.

Tesla built a major manufacturing plant here, transforming the economic importance of this rural area. This project attracted investment and attention, making the municipality a significant industrial location.
