Vater Unser Kapelle

Vater Unser Kapelle is a modern chapel featuring a hexagonal footprint and an 18-meter spire that rises distinctly above the landscape. Large windows are integrated throughout the walls, allowing natural light to flood the interior space.

The chapel was constructed between 1967 and 1968 under architect Werner Groh's design. Publisher Theophil Herder-Dorneich and his wife Elisabeth commissioned this project as a personal religious structure.

The chapel draws its design from religious texts and natural forms. Visitors can notice the symbolic connections between prayer, creation, and elements expressed through the building's architecture.

The chapel is located in Buchenbach-Unteribental and welcomes visitors year-round. The hexagonal design and generous window placement make it easy to find and navigate when arriving.

A celestial globe decorated with evangelist symbols and zodiac signs stands in the forecourt of the chapel. This astronomical element is paired with a geometric hexagonal fountain that echoes the chapel's angular design language.
