Hirsholmene, Protected archipelago in Frederikshavn Municipality, Denmark
The Hirsholmene archipelago consists of ten small islands in the Kattegat sea, located 7 kilometers northeast of Frederikshavn's coastline.
The Danish government established Hirsholmene as a nature reserve in 1938, leading to its subsequent designation as a Ramsar site in 1977.
Danish author Dines Skafte Jespersen documented his experiences on Hirsholm island through three autobiographical books about island life.
The harbor at Hirsholm provides 15 moorings with specific regulations, including a 3-knot speed limit and daily fees based on vessel length.
Access to the southern pier remains closed between April and July to protect local wildlife, while dogs and cats are permanently prohibited.
