Bardenas Reales

The terrain of Bardenas Reales extends across 42,000 hectares, featuring clay formations, chalk cliffs, deep canyons, and isolated plateaus shaped by water and wind erosion.

The geological formation of Bardenas Reales began ten million years ago when the basin connected to the Mediterranean Sea, resulting in extensive erosion patterns.

The Sanmiguelada celebration takes place on September 29, marking the traditional entry of livestock into Bardenas Reales for seasonal grazing periods.

Visitors can access the White Bardena region through Arguedas, while the Black Bardena section connects via the road from Tudela to Ejea de los Caballeros.

The natural park contains distinct zones including White Bardena with salt deposits and Black Bardena with pine forests, creating two contrasting environmental systems.
