Bridge of Las Tres Fuentes, Railway bridge in Almonaster la Real, Spain
The Bridge of Las Tres Fuentes is a railway viaduct in Almonaster la Real that spans 160 meters and rises 66 meters above the Lisa stream. The structure features multiple arches that cross the valley and connect sections of the rail line.
The viaduct was built in the late 19th century following engineering principles developed by students of Gustave Eiffel. Between 1954 and 1956, the bridge received concrete reinforcements to improve its stability.
This structure represents a significant element of Spain's railway heritage, connecting the Zafra-Huelva line at kilometer marker 100.3.
The best way to see the structure is to follow a path beside the Lisa stream down to its base. From there, visitors can view the arches and overall construction from different angles.
The viaduct connects two railway tunnels that pass beneath Tres Fuentes hill and a rock formation known as El Mosquito. These tunnels are now often unseen from the road, making the viaduct's role as a connecting link easy to overlook.
