Catalonia April Fair, Spring festival at Parc del Forum, Barcelona, Spain
The Catalonia April Fair occupies a large waterfront space with carnival rides and about a hundred marquee tents at Parc del Forum. The layout spreads across different zones for dancing, dining, and celebrations throughout the festive grounds.
This celebration began in 1971 when Andalusian immigrants established their own version of the traditional Seville Fair in the Barcelona area. It has since grown into one of the region's largest events.
Visitors in flamenco dresses and traditional suits gather in casetas to dance sevillanas and enjoy regional music and food from southern Spain. The mixing of Andalusian customs with local Barcelona culture creates a welcoming celebration for everyone.
The fair runs over several days between April and May with free admission for everyone. Weekends draw the largest crowds, so visiting on weekdays offers a less crowded experience.
Unlike the original fair in Seville, all tents here remain open to the public, including those run by Latin American and Moroccan cultural groups. This makes the Barcelona event notably more inclusive than its counterpart.
