Forum Building, Cultural center in Sant Martí district, Barcelona, Spain.
The Forum Building is a modern cultural center with a triangular form featuring 180-meter sides that rises about 25 meters above ground with a reflective blue exterior surface. Inside, it contains a large auditorium with about 3,000 seats, connected to the Barcelona International Convention Center through an underground passage.
The structure was designed in 2001 by Swiss architects Herzog and de Meuron for the Universal Forum of Cultures 2004, transforming a former industrial waterfront area. This event marked a turning point in the neighborhood's development and urban regeneration.
The Natural Sciences Museum of Barcelona has occupied this space since 2011, displaying collections of plants, animals, fossils, and minerals. Visitors can explore the diversity of life on Earth and learn how nature works through interactive exhibits and displays.
The facility is located near the beach in a modern neighborhood and is easily accessible by public transportation. The spacious interior allows for leisurely exploration, so visitors should allow plenty of time to view the extensive exhibitions and collections.
The building's roof is made of thousands of individual elements arranged to create a wavelike pattern that resembles a water surface. This clever design connects the architectural form to the symbolic meaning of its waterfront location.
