Torre de les Aigües del Besòs

Torre de les Aigües del Besòs is a water tower in the Poblenou neighborhood that now operates as a museum and lookout point. The circular brick building has varying architectural details on each floor and once held two water tanks that supplied the industrial district.

The tower was built in 1882 to pump water from Besòs River aquifers for the industrial district's supply. It operated for nearly a century before retiring from its original function.

The tower sits in the heart of Poblenou, a former industrial neighborhood now home to artists and creative professionals. Its location between old factory buildings and new residences shows how this structure shaped the area's identity.

The climb involves over 300 steps in a spiral staircase leading to the top with views over Barcelona. The tour is physically demanding, so take your time and wear appropriate footwear.

The building was constructed entirely from brick without using any steel structural components, making it remarkable for its time. Each floor displays different masonry techniques that demonstrate 19th-century construction methods.
