Cala Arena

Cala Arena is a beach with gray sand located within Cabo de Gata Natural Park on the Almeria coast. The cove is bordered by rocky cliffs and opens directly to the Mediterranean Sea.

The park was established in 1987 as Andalusia's first maritime-terrestrial protected area. Fishing communities have shaped this coastline for centuries, adapting to its rugged environment.

Local residents maintain traditional fishing practices along this coastline, reflecting the enduring maritime heritage of the Almeria region.

The path to reach the beach has a gentle slope, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The cove offers minimal shade, making sun protection necessary for a comfortable visit.

The right side of the beach displays basalt columns with natural geometric patterns in the cliff face. These formations result from ancient volcanic activity and stand out distinctly from the surrounding landscape.
