Playa de los Genoveses, Natural beach in Cabo de Gata Natural Park, Spain
The beach extends for 1,180 meters along golden sand shores with desert plants and low dunes leading to Mediterranean waters.
In 1147, a fleet of 200 Genoese ships supporting Alfonso VII's Christian army landed here during their campaign against Muslim forces.
The natural sand dunes of this Mediterranean shore have served as filming locations for various productions, including The Rat Patrol series.
During July and August, access requires using a shuttle bus service departing every 30 minutes from San José or paying a vehicle entrance fee.
Small eucalyptus groves at the northern section provide natural shade areas, while native plants grow across the unspoiled sand formations.
