Cala Higuera

Cala Higuera is a beach along the Mediterranean coast near Níjar measuring around 220 meters in length. The shore consists of pebbles and gravel framed by rock formations that shape its distinctive appearance.

The beach served for centuries as a landing place for local fishermen who brought their daily catches ashore. This fishing-centered past left its mark on what remains a working part of the coast today.

Local residents continue fishing traditions at Cala Higuera, maintaining techniques passed through generations for catching Mediterranean species.

Access comes through a marked walking path from the AL-3108 motorway, with parking located around 500 meters from the waterline. The route is clearly marked, though the terrain can be rocky underfoot, so sturdy shoes are advisable.

The beach is known for natural rock pools that fill with clear Mediterranean water at high tide and become inviting spots for exploration. These pools form due to the distinctive rock formations and offer small areas to discover during a beach visit.
