Deba

The beach at Deba stretches about 420 meters long and 160 meters wide with white sand along the Basque coast. The cove sits between natural rock formations that frame the water and shoreline.

The coastal area contains prehistoric cave sites like Ermitia, Urtiaga, and Gaztelu that hold evidence from the Magdalenian period. These locations show that people lived here for thousands of years.

The Church of Santa María stands near the beach and shows Basque Gothic style with a colorful 15th-century entrance that visitors notice while walking through town.

The beach offers conditions for surfing, bodyboarding, and paddleboarding, with equipment rental and instruction during warmer months. Visitors will find more sand at low tide and less space at high tide.

The beach connects to the Flysch Trail, where exposed rock layers display millions of years of Earth history. These geological patterns are visible along the coast and explain how the landscape formed.
