Cova des Coloms

Cova des Coloms is a limestone cave set within the Binigaus Ravine that stretches roughly 100 meters into the earth. The walls rise to approximately 24 meters high and span about 15 meters wide.

Archaeology teams discovered multiple artifacts from the Talaiotic Period, including ceramic pottery, bronze horns, and human remains dating to around 550 BC. These findings show the site served as a shelter for people over many centuries.

The limestone formations inside resemble elements you would see in a church, which is why locals call this place the Cathedral Cave.

You can reach this cave via a marked trail that starts near the cemetery in Es Migjorn Gran and leads through the ravine. The walk takes about 30 minutes to reach the entrance.

This cave keeps a steady temperature year-round and is home to many pigeons, which inspired its name Coloms in the local language. This combination of stable conditions and abundant wildlife makes it a surprising ecosystem to explore.
