Edificio Artklass, Neoclassical residential building in Indautxu, Spain.
Edificio Artklass is a neoclassical residential building in Bilbao's Indautxu neighborhood, occupying an entire block at Plaza Euskadi. The structure features symmetrical facades with classical details and multiple interior courtyards that bring natural light into the apartments.
The complex was designed by architect Rob Krier in partnership with Marc and Nada Breitman, and completed in 2011. This residential project represented a contemporary addition to Bilbao's urban landscape.
The building displays 41 artworks designed by architect Rob Krier, integrated into the facades and throughout the interior spaces. These sculptural and engraved elements shape how the structure looks and feels when you move through or past it.
The eight-story structure connects to Casilda Iturrizar Park and Lehendakari Leizaola Street, making it easy to locate. You can view the facades and artworks from the street and explore the surrounding neighborhood on foot.
Two distinctive domes crown the main facade, with the golden dome featuring the Basque inscription 'Ezina ekinez egina' meaning 'the impossible becomes possible through action'. This phrase connects the design directly to local values and language.
