The first documented reference of Milmanda dates to 1148, when Guerau de Granyena and his wife Sança granted it to Arnau de Montpaó.
The castle displays the coat of arms of Abbot Ponç de Copons above its main entrance, representing its strong connection to Poblet Monastery.
